I've always given my dogs bites of fruit.  Ben's favorite is banana.  He
also loves to lick my yogurt container when I'm through.  I figure a
little fruit or yogurt is good for him.
He doesn't beg, just waits patiently.  He knows the rules, and we both
follow them.
