Hi, Tracy,
Whenever I have given the canned vegies I mentioned all of the above in my 
last message, that's why I always drained the preserves out of there before 
giving them to Odie directly.
Sometimes, I've also rinsed them out with cold water before he had eaten the 
veggies to help get the salt off more.
Everyone does things differently as what works for one dog may not work for 
another one.
