[nagdu] News broadcast, a boy and his guide dog

Why?
Working a dog as in having it guide you is totally different from a pet.
How is a pet from GDB (since t his is what this is) any different from giving Johnnya dog from the pound?

And, how do we know that these kids really want these dogs?
We all remember having to do something because our parents wanted it. How do we know this isn't going on here?

First, no, it is not a guide dog. They messed that up on the news story.
Second, I think that it is a good thing. For some people, their first
guide dog might be their first dog ever. I think that this program gives
people a chance to have a dog and know what it is like. Fore some reason, I
feel that other people would have an easier time understanding that that the
person needs to learn how to work with and care for the dog on his/her own
if it comes from GDB than if the parents to just give a dog to the child and
say, "Okay, this is your dog. Take care of it." Yes, the parents could train
the dog in general obedience or find someone else to train it, but I just
think that there is a different perspective put on it if it comes from a
program.
