[nagdu] Introduction

That's really odd. I wasn't told this either; I'm going to have
to see if it works. If it does I'll feel really bad for keeping
him tied near his bed for no reason.

At GDB they don't tell us this in class, but the dogs have been
taught
the "Go to bed" command. I didn't know this till one day out of
no
where I did this, and it worked like magic. I usually tell Anise
this,
and she naps on her bed for hours. Not sure why they don't teach
us
this command if the puppy raisers work so hard on it.

If even keeping the leash attached to my belt loop rendered the

confident that
the dog could be trusted. Once trust was established, I have
used "go to
your place". Works like a charm--most of the time.

Believe it or not, a long-time handler showed me this skill. It
probably
isn't much, but if you don't know you can wrap the leash around
something,
being shown how to do it when a tie-down isn't around is a huge
deal.
I found this post a bit mean. No, it isn't rocket science, but
not much in
this world is. I kind of put it up there with somebody pointing
out
something obvious like "Pack lunch the night before" when you
complain that
you have a hard time packing lunch for the family in the
morning. Not a
brilliant solution, but a useful and kind one.

Well, there isn't much to this essential skill of anchoring a
dog. It is
good to work with the dog on staying put; early on, though, a
tie down can
be helpful. I can mostly get Fisher to stay somewhere now.
