[nagdu] Dogs at work

Dear barb,

Don't borrow trouble you don't even know will happen; so long as the public isn't bothering your dog, I should hope your boss doesn't have a problem with some people seeing the dog, as having him or her there doesn't violate any health or safety codes.

I work in a fitness club laundry, I found a nice place for the dog, but it would be in a place that the public could see him, and I don't no if the boss would like that, Plus if the dog gets worked up when he sees a bunch of people and starts barking, that could be bad.

Unless there is a legitimate safety concern in the type of work you do, your boss's response is illegal discrimination. Service dogs can accompany their handlers in nearly every situation and need not be confined on a different floor.

I don't want the dog somewhere that I can't keep an eye on things. I don't know who can go up where the dog is and bother him. If I can't have my dog where I know what is going on around him, then I don't think I will apply for one. Am I wrong in this thinking, or do many people who have dogs have them crated far away from where you work. I know that guide dogs are a loud everywhere, but what are rules for where they are kept while at work.
