[nagdu] National Convention--my opinion

I was wondering if there are specific times when large numbers of guide dog 
users are in the dog relief area - at least morning, noon, suppertime, and 
before bed?  I realize that people don't pick up for whatever reasons and 
the fact is that there is alot of dog poop there.  I realize that the 
conventions are held in really ripping hot places and having someone out at 
the relief areas all day is not a reasonable thing to ask anyone to do - 
paid or volunteer.  Why not have someone to go clean up the relief areas 
after the high use times of the day and a couple of other times in between? 
That way, the areas will remain reasonably clean.  Maybe a local dog club, 
Boy Scouts looking to earn a volunteer badge?  Maybe we give them lunch and 
soft drinks as a thank you for a thankless job done?

Yes, there are people who can't clean up after their own dogs. But there are 
very lazy people as well who either didn't learn how to pick up (hard to 
think any school nowadays doesn't teach this skill) or forgot how, or just 
don't give a crap (pun intended).  Whatever the reason, the relief area gets 
full of nasty stuff and it needs to be cleaned up.  Especially if there's 
400 dogs using the area!

All that can be done is to encourage folks to do the right thing - clean up 
or have a buddy help with the task.
