[nagdu] Crosswalks

Mid-block crosswalks really depend on drivers to know the
rules....most of them don't. They don't see a stop sign or red light,
so they go and will only stop if you are directly in their path. There
is a crosswalk like this in Cameron Village, Raleigh (NC). I regularly
use it to get across to the other bus stop or to the library, but have
to wait until there are no cars around because good luck trying to get
them to stop. It is rare to have a car actually stop and wait for me
when I have my cane out in front of me, obviously waiting to go
across. I think this is a national problem, not just in your
town/city. Drivers these days are just not caring about pedestrians.
My two cents,
Jewel
