Hi, Brandy.

It's funny that you say this. My girls have also been more persistent, whereas Acelet is more subtle. Because he is my first male, I just figured it was a personality thing, and didn't really attribute it to gender.

The biggest difference I have seen in the two males and two females I worked for a good amount of time is that females seem to have a little more initiative and are more firm about it. I am one of those handlers that, though total, think they know more than their dog at times and will say, find the curb yet want to show her where it is when she is of course right pinta and my previous females would say, no stupid it's over here. Whereas my males would say, ok I think your wrong but ok. Another good example is that I teach my dogs to find stuff I dropped. One day I kept saying, find it show me, and I point to the ground. Eventually she took her paw and through my hand on the object. Again, this is just what I have experienced. It could of just been coincidence that my males were more subtle and females more persistent. I also noticed my females have been more high strung by far than my males. I also prefer females at this point. Very interesting

So, when I was told I was being matched with a male, that was the picture I had in my head. Acelet is nothing like my father's dogs. He's small, weighing in at 56 pounds. His temperament is super sweet. Once he gained confidence, he became a great worker.
