[nagdu] walking guide dogs?

I know my college campus and the surrounding neighborhoods very well,
so on weekends and during some week nights, I will take the golden guy
for on-leash walks. I still carry the harness on my shoulder just in
case, since we are walking anywhere from four to ten blocks during
these on-leash walks. He generally refrains from sniffing in-harness,
and will not even sniff while on-leash unless he is on the long leash.
After particularly long or complicated work sessions in-harness, I
will take the Golden Guy to a park where he can run around, sniff
pee-mail, and is allowed to do marking of his own.
Also, there is an athletic field on-campus where I will close all the
gates and we have fifteen-twenty minute play sessions.
Now that the harsh part of winter is rapidly approaching, I will
definitely let him off-leash to romp and play in the snow.

I think the thing that many people don't know is that dogs are
supposed to get about 17 hours of sleep a day. That's just over twice
as much as what is recommended for humans, so we shouldn't be too
worried about what kinds of things our dogs could be doing as opposed
to napping under a desk. I mean, they shouldn't be laying around all
day, but they don't need to walk half a marathon throughout the day
either.
