This news is just so upsetting to me. I am so sorry for Rachel and Lady. Pascal has been snapped at by pit bulls and other breeds, but they have never broken skin. My neighbor had a pit bull and the dog kept snapping and trying to attack Pascal, but my landlord and the SPCA did nothing. This is something that we all need to work on. It's not just pit bulls, but any dog that attacks our dogs. I honestly do not think that all pit bulls are vicious, it all depends on how they are raised and if the owners do their part.
I am praying that Lady makes a full recovery. Please keep us posted.

Hello list, I have some sad news to report. Rachel Krieg's guide dog Lady was attacked and severely injured by a pit bull.Rachel is a member of this list.The dog has neurological symptoms as well as bite wounds.This could have been prevented if animal control had done their job as well as her apartment manager.Neither of them made any attempt to correct the problem of this pit bull running in the complex without a leash. Animal control had been called several times before and after the attack and they have ignored the situation. The manager did nothing either. The people who own the pit bull just laughed at Rachel when she tried to talk to them.Even the police were very insensitive to Rachel.They refused to talk with Rachel after they talked to the owners of the offending dog.We have laws to protect our service dog but they are not enforced.The vet bills are already over $3000.00. Rachel is very upset about her dog's  condition, and so am I as I helped Rachel train Lady.This dog is so sweet and loving and an excellent guide.She may not recover.If any one wishes to donate to help with the vet bills, you can contact me off list and I can give you the info where to donate.
