[nagdu] Security check

Your email is not quite making sense. There is a difference in verifying
that a dog is from a school and verifying that a dog is well trained. There
is not really a way to verify that a dog is well trained, at least not in a
few minutes. Finally, just because a dog is well trained does not mean that
it is a service dog, so, even though you have a valid point about going and
buying equipment to make a misbehaving dog look like a service dog, someone
who really know what he/she was doing could also take the time to properly
train a non-service dog to behave to make passing the dog off as a service
dog easier.

Nicole and the well behaved Lexia who really is a service dog

Hi,

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see why people are so upset if you are
flying or going some place where there are a lot of people. Is it so wrong
for a place to want to make sure that the dog that is would not have is a
well trained dog.

I can go on line and buy a harness and everything I would need to look like
I have a guide dog. The only thing I would not have is a well trained dog .

I get it, we don't want to be questioned every time you go shopping, but
if I am on an airplane with a dog, I would like to know that the dog has
been trained to be in a plane.
If you have a metal hip or something like that, you get questioned by
security .

Last night, we went to a concert. A security person wanted to check over
Ben, not sure why, but I let her. She ran her hands over him, like they do
at the airport, then she looked at his ID tags. Ben has 2: one with my
address, and one saying Seeing Eye and their address. I think she was
confirming that he's a genuine service dog.
I thought it was funny and a bit odd. In 34 years, I don't remember anyone
ever looking at the school ID tag.
