Actually ice water as much as some humans enjoy it isn't a good idea for 
either people or animals when it is hot. The body has to bring that down to 
neutral temperature which requires even more energy to do so before it can 
adequately use it for cooling effects. I do bring most of the water I carry 
in a good thermos so the water is not heated by temperature.
