Hi Lisa, that's very common.  Sometimes you can get the leash all 
nice and tight so that the dog is closely connected to you.  I 
put Neena under the table with her head toward me, my foot on the 
leash.  Then I can feel her if she starts to move.  I sometimes 
put a Gentle Leader on her.  Are you able to call your trainer to 
get advice over the phone, or some follow-up?   Peace,    Debby
