Debby, you put it better than I ever could.

Barb: I echo many sentiments here.  Even though a school has said you may qualify, your attitude toward your own use of a guide dog would be a disservice to you, any guide dog you obtain, and those of us who truly need them because we are behind you in line to receive training for one.

I don't think any of us could, in good conscience, assist you with obtaining a guide dog; as someone else has stated, get a pet dog and enjoy it.

They are not trained to guard either. Some dogs are more protective of their owners than others. I've known dogs that would just lick someone to death, rather than protect.
