Aleeha,

Yeep. I think in that case, I might let the dog just rest for the first
week, or long enough to start to feel comfortable in the new home and
nearby areas for basic relieving and maybe short leash walks (if you do
that with your dog) until he's settled in and back on his feed and all.
Then maybe start with shorter trips, if he's still nervous. In the
meantime, you could be getting more oriented yourself with the cane.
That depends on your cane skill and preferences for using it when the
dog is having an off time, of course. What I might do isn't what
everyone would do. I'm just thinking off the top of my head.

Good luck with the move and getting your boy happy and going again!

Tami

He is a very good dog and seems to do well in the city when I take him there, although he was quite stressed and had loose stool after a trip to this city yesterday. Last time I moved, even though it was across town, he became very stressed and didn’t really want anything to do with me for over a week, again having loose stool and sleeping a great del. Since this is going to be an even bigger change for him, how do I go about getting him acclimated when there will be a lot more traffic? I am also not terribly familiar with the area, so orientation will be a bit of a concern. I just don’t want to overwhelm him and I also want to make sure that he will be his good old self, even in a big city. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
