[nagdu] using a tie down

Oh yes, when I had a dog that wasn't trustworthy if left alone, I would put the dog on tie-down on the rare occasions I would leave it home. I've only left Petunia home once for a brief time, and she's trustworthy so I didn't put her on tie-down at all.

hi julie. well i don't use a tie down any more. i did use 1 when i first got callie but don't need to now. i do have friends that use them though for when they leave the dog on their own. i'd say a couple of hours would b ok to leave the dog on a tie down for. crates aren't used here in ireland. i know a couple of people that put their dogs on a tie down over night but personally i think that's too long.

I get what a tie down is, how to use it in the sense of what it looks like, how it connects, what sort of collar to use and those aspects. What I’m interested in learning more about is how you use tie downs in your daily routine. Do you use it only at specific times, like meals or when people come to your home? If you also use a crate, when do you use each? Do you have multiple tie down places throughout your home? How long do you keep your dog on tie down?
