Ouch!!!! Getting nails caught on paws sounds painful poor thing!

That must have been scary to almost fall. That and the dogs surgery explain why you would use the wheelchair lift.

Yes Jennifer it is the wheel chair lift that I now use . I won't let my dog jump on the steps of the buses as I found out every bus has a different height for the steps. Two months after her surgery she lost her balance trying to go on the steps and we both almost fell off the bus . A wonderful driver grabbed both of us to keep us from falling. 
I advocated with the county and bus company for the mats. I also carry one too just in case. I live on Long Island. Its sad because the bus company is good but there hands are tied since it ran by the county. We had another guide dog get hurt but the man wouldn't say anything .  He had no idea until the driver told him when he was getting off the bus. We think it was from the metal for the wheel chairs. if the dogs nails are not short they can get it caught if the person is sitting on the side of the bus where the wheel chair metal tie down are.
