[NAGDU] training my own again

Cindy:

This is funny. I have had the opposite experience. I had trouble
controlling the stronger bigger male dogs I had back with my first two dogs.
Since then I have had much better luck with the smaller more gentle females.
I've had better luck with the smaller dogs too. They are just easier to fit
in small spaces. I used to travel a lot and wanted a dog that could easily
fit under seats in the coach section of a plane, on a train or bus. due to
where I have lived for the past eight years I have to depend on private cars
or taxi services for most of my transportation. As we all know many
personal cars and taxi company cars have very little room on the floor of
the back seat. When riding with family and friends I usually put my dog on
the floor in the front passenger seat. In a lot of cars this is also a
small space therefore, I always prefer a smaller dog. Actually I am a bit
afraid of larger dogs after suffering two serious experiences where me and
my guide dog were subjected to multiple daily attacks from a large
aggressive guide dog in apartment buildings where I lived. As Julie said,
you have to decide what you really need in a dog and where and under what
circumstances you and your dog will be working. We are all different with
our own preferences of what type of dog we are comfortable working. It is
interesting to hear how our opinions are based on previous experiences
whether they have been good or bad.

Julie, now that you've mentioned it, I have actually had better luck with
male dogs. I have had six dogs and three of them did not work out for me.
Two of these were female dogs. Also, I found that the bigger dogs I've had
were the most even in temperament, though I can't imagine why that is. I
thought I strictly wanted females, but now I am happy to have a male. Of
course my big dog is small next to these dogs Vivianna is talking about.
LOL.

Tough decision! I like that the no tail girl was choosing you over other
things going on. To me that would indicate that she would be not so easily
distracted and easy to train because she wants to please you.
However, I think I prefer the boy dogs. They seem a little more consistent
day to day. I like big dogs though, so the size wouldn't be a huge deterent
for me. They all sound like lovely dogs!

Did you get to bring him home?

Julie
