Daryl,
This is so awesome! I understand your reasons for not bringing her. It is absolutely your choice. I have had tattoo work done 4 times and am about to go for number 5. My dogs have been with me for all of them and you do not want to be dealing with them if you aren't sure they will be calm. Usually I bribe a dog-holder with beer and she holds my pup.
I do have a dog tattoo on my left calf— on the outside. I have 6 pawprints, for each of my six working dogs. In the center of each paw is the first letter of one of my dogs names in braille. Twining around the paws that are walking up my legs is a quote from Rodyard Kippling's the Jungle Book, which says:
"For the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack."

The big day is this Friday, and I'm kinda waffling at the irony that I've decided not to take Jenny, the inspiration for this tattoo, to the tattoo appointment with me. The reasons of this are twofold: I'm nervous enough about getting a tattoo that it just seems easier for me to NOT have to worry about Jenny and her reaction to the tattoo. Also, my husband will be meeting me there, and I wouldn't be in full control of my dog if I'm on the table and she decides to go greet him (something she's gotten better about, but still needs some work).I know it's silly... this second-guessing. I know my reasons are valid. My tattoo artist is super supportive, wanting to make things work so that Jenny can be with me, but her BEING there would be one more thing for me to worry about.
> Does this make sense?I'm getting this tattoo done because I do, seriously, want to be just like Jenny when I grow up. I want to work hard, to be good at my job, but not take life too seriously. I want to state my opinions fearlessly, and love with no reservations.SO excited.Daryl
