Uber and Lyft have the ability to check their systems to identify the drivers that cancel before a trip has started. It is true that a rider does not often have access to the history of drivers who are dispatched but cancel before they activate the trip. Submitting a complaint to Uber/Lyft with the time/date and a clear explanation about what happened should enable them to track the correct drivers in the system even if the rider cannot name the specific drivers at issue. A similar approach can be used with the ridesharing survey. While some re-assigning of different drivers is legitimately based on efficiency, some is definitely driver-induced discrimination that should be reported.

I agree with Mike on this and am glad he has looped Tim in. The person having the Lyft issue should do the same in my opinion.

Nancy,

You still should report on the RideShare form. Give all the information you can and state just what happened. Also, contact Tim Elder whom I have copied on this.

Best Regards,

Michael Hingson

Subject: [NAGDU] Denied rides but info not appearing in uber app

Good morning list,
I had two Uber denials Tuesday afternoon and evening. I know they were both due to my guide dog Samwise because in both instances the drivers indicated they had arrived and then all of a sudden the ride was canceled and another driver took the ride.
The odd part about all of this is that in my Uber app, their is no evidence that another driver had accepted my ride and I have no proof that such a thing happened. This is strange because in the past I have always seen the driver’s information no matter what.
I haven’t reported to the rideshare form because I have no information to report. I can’t give a name because the two individuals who picked me up after the denials were fantastic and I would hate for them to be caught in the crossfire.
So, I’m not certain what to do. Does anyone have any advice?
Thanks,
Nancy
