Hello richard and All
, I have been on many cruises with my guide dogs as well as cruises without.
If you are truly looking for a vacation, then I was a you might want to leave your guy dog home with someone.
I will say though that it is very easy to work with the cruise line in order to take your dog. Most cruise lines will work with you and provide a relief box on a cruise ship where are you can take your dog during the cruise.
I hope this helps and if you have any other questions feel free to contact me off list.

That being said, with my specific dog and his temperament, I tend to not take him on cruises. I found that when I have, his stress level goes up to the point where neither of us enjoys ourselves as much as we could otherwise. Now, I know many other guide dog user teams who Cruise successfully together. One of the things I might suggest, especially if your dog is particular about relieving areas, is maybe acclimate your dog to a litter box type of relieving station, maybe even creating one in your own backyard if you have access to it. Typically wood chips and or some kind of sand will be used by many Cruise lines. If you decide to not take your dog, that is perfectly okay as well. Only you can decide this. When I have not taken my dog on a cruise with me, I will leave him at a nearby boarding facility, where he will also go to be pampered when he goes in for grooming. I feel very comfortable about that place and he also likes it. I find that this provides less stress on everyone. When I get my next dog, the situation might be different, therefore, he might go with me on cruises. Good luck.
