Hi you all

Thought I would share with you all, the minutes from our most recent (August
17th) meeting. Many of you were not there. But need to know what we covered
and need to be thinking on. I will paste them in below; if you find that
corrections are needed, send them my way; later I will send an attached
document of the finalized minutes.

National Federation of the Blind of Nebraska

Senior Division

August 17, 2015 Membership Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 7:04 PM (CT). In attendance: President
Robert Newman, VP Barbara Loos, Secretary Karen Lemmon. Members- Brad Loos,
Nancy Oltman and Carolyn Schaeffer.

Barbara recited the NFB pledge. All members are encouraged to memorize this
pledge which is attached at the bottom of this report.

President Robert asked if all present had read the minutes from the July
meeting. Since everyone had the minutes, they were motioned and seconded and
approved as read.

Secretary Karen agreed to send the minutes from past meetings to Mike Hansen
for record keeping. Karen also agreed to send future minutes as they were
approved to Mike.

Since Cheryl was not in attendance there was no treasurer's report.

OLD BUSINESS

President Newman reported that the Braille writer was sold to Dan Johnson
for $400. The members expressed a great appreciation for the donation by the
family of the former owner, Sibby Lebeau.

NEW BUSINESS

Discussion turned to new business and the upcoming NFBN State
Convention was the first topic. Nancy clarified that the dates of the
convention in Norfolk will be October 29 through November 1. The convention
will be held at the Divots Convention Center. Members are encouraged to make
reservations at the Divots Convention Center as soon as possible. Further
information has not been received from the NFBN State Board.

President Newman reported that his plan was to attend the next
NFBN board meeting to find out details about what time and how much time the
Senior Division will have at the Convention in October/November. Barbara
expressed her concerns about having the Senior Division luncheon at the same
time as the Student Division as many people like to attend both luncheons.
Since we do not know the schedule of the Convention the members did some
brainstorming as to topics and concerns that should be covered in our time
at convention. Karen suggested that we dwell on the holiday idea. Nancy
agreed because most holidays can be an uncomfortable time for blind
individuals. Karen threw out the idea of witch craft as a bit of humor but
that sprang some interesting ideas. Rather than witchcraft Robert suggested
W h I c h Craft. Barbara suggested that we have simple crafts that the
members can make and take home which will surround a theme aiming at helping
gain self-confidence through all holidays.

President Robert also asked that people consider the upcoming
elections of Board Members which will be held at the Senior Division meeting
during the Convention.

Further discussion about the Senior Division session at the
Convention was tabled for the September meeting when we hope to have further
details as to the scheduling.

Karen asked about any decisions or suggestions about the planned
brochures for the senior division. President Robert reported that at this
time he had not heard from anyone as to what should be included in the
brochures. Please make suggestions to Robert vai email or phone.

BRAGS AND DRAGS

Please keep Barbara and Brad's sister and Nancy O's sister in your prayers.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 7:59 PM (CT)

Respectfully submitted

Karen Lemmon

NFBN Senior Division Secretary
