Hey Keitei,
Thanks for sharing how your interest evolved and the experiences you
have had with deaf-blind individuals.

There are always camps or conferences of deaf-blind people not
necessarily the NFB who are looking for SSPs/interpreters. I know that
the deaf-blind camp that I attended this past June in Maryland the
SSPs/interpreters and deaf-blind participants came from all across the
United States. Also, would you consider relocating to a different city
or state if there was a deaf-blind person who needed a n
SSP/interpreter, whom you felt you were a good match for? Regardless, of
your answer to this question, I admire your facility with languages.
Also appreciate your commitment to help the deaf-blind community because
SSPs and interpreters are definitely in demand.

I am trying to learn tactile ASL but it is hard as I am currently taking
counseling classes and I don't have the finances to pay for additional
classes until I have a job yet I feel that time is slipping by and I am
not getting any younger.

Does anyone know if the Hadley school would offer some courses on ASL
that would describe the signs?
Janice

I learned tactile signing and became completely fine doing it.At one of the summer program's, I met a few SSPs. I talked to them for a little bit as well about what they did.

The interpreters said that I should possibly think about becoming an SSP/interpreter, since I learned ASL quite quickly. I've thought about it quite a bit, and now I think I would like to do that.
