I attended the CCB as well! I think I would be concerned that the DB
student does not get the tactile support like at HKC! I could be wrong! But
when I was at CCB in 04/05 we did not have any DB students. I know a couple
of students who were refugees and the center had a hard enough time just
giving them ESL support in the past couple of years. Is the center equipt
for handling blindness plus deafness too when they can varely handle ESL FOR
BLIND REFUGEES? The support was inadequate after speaking to the students
who received this service. The center is good about blindness skills but,
if you have more to deal with than just blindness, it falls short! This has
been a long time debate in the NFB. About helping those who have more
difficulties than just blindness! I think if DB students consider a center,
that center should have both blindness and ASL training. Because you will
need both! I just don't know if centers like CCB are equip enough to do
this! Heather
