Hello All,
Although very rarely does someone ever inform the Deaf-Blind community
regarding public health and personal safety. Often times, the Deaf-Blind
community is kept in the dark, when it comes to news and happenings in our
national Deaf-Blind community. So I thought I would share with the group
what I know in regards to the potential Ebola outbreak here in the U.S. But
first, some of you have no clue what Ebola is. And may never heard of it.
Ebola is a very dangerous and deadly virus. It is spread when someone comes
in contact with an infected person's body fluids. Bodily fluids consists of
sweat, saliva(spit), urine, blood, semen, feces, mucus, etc. Ebola is not
airborne. Once the person becomes infected, they have between 2-21 days to
live. Chances of surviving Ebola infection is slim to none. There are
currently no cures or vaccines to treat Ebola. Ebola originated from West
Africa and right now, it has already killed over 4,000 people there. A few
American volunteer health care workers were also infected and flown back to
the U.S. for treatment. A Liberian man in late Sept. has flown to Dallas,
TX from Liberia. He brought with him Ebola to the U.S. And he became the
first person diagnosed with Ebola in the U.S. That man died last week. 4
days later, a nurse who treated him was diagnosed with Ebola. Yesterday, a
2nd nurse was also infected. That nurse may have spread that infection unto
her family in Summit County, Ohio. It is not clear what town or city that
is. But Cleveland airport has activated it's emergency biohazard systems,
since that infected nurse has flown to Dallas from Cleveland on a Frontier
Airline flight. 132 passengers and crew members who flew with the infected
nurse are now being monitored by the officials from the Centers for Disease
Control (CDC). Ebola spreads rapidly like a wildfire. Those who are at
greater risks are those who fly frequently. Or frequent travelers. Its wise
to take in consideration to exercise precaution when flying this coming
holiday season. Some may brush this off as nonsense. Likewise, but as the
officials from the CDC has predicted a possible epidemic in the coming
weeks or months. Its wise to the side of common sense and educate and
inform yourselves and others about the lethal Ebola disease. You can learn
more about this Ebola virus by going to the Centers for Disease Control's
website at:

Embrace for the worst to come. Stay safe and take care,

-Sterling
