     I suggest you do a search on BookShare with the term genealogy.
This will give you a number of books to read.
Some years ago, there was a library of genealogy books recorded for the
blind. I did a quick google search with the terms:
Genealogy society blind.

There is a discussion list on freelists.org and other articles. Hope this
helps.
If you have a few dollars to spare, you can always try the sites like
www.ancestory.com I found some of my distant relatives by searching for my
last name on FaceBook.
