Hello My Friend In The Kitchen

SUMMER🌻 Hello there!
We see and feel you peeking around that corner!  Just can’t wait to have
you around for a few months! You always come bearing baskets of refreshing
bounty — berries of all kinds, cherries, stone fruits (apricots, peaches,
nectarines), cantaloupe, watermelon, corn, tomatoes, summer squash, okra.
And let’s not forget—champagne grapes, Anaheim chilies, Asian pears and all
the delights we’re craving right now.

Here’s what I’m thinking about cooking during the summer months—
Drool worthy Cherry Clafouti. I made this for the first time while working
in London. It was quite the disaster. My colleagues had quite the laugh for
days. It’s been a while. I’ve perfected it and now it’s the ‘cherry’ ontop
of my day.

It’s high time to drag out that grill — What about grilled spiced corn with
Za’atar, yogurt and drops of honey? Yes!
Or what about coconut shrimp,  meaty mushrooms or chicken grilled with
pesto and peaches! I see you chef Traunfeld.

It’s also time to break out those skewers (rather soaking those skewers).
Some foods are just fun and taste better slid on skewers. I’m trying Tomato
Gnocchi, Báhn Mì, Buffalo Cauliflower Kebabs or Greek Sovlaki (I see you
Chef Lia). Absolutely.

How about a plethora of aqua frescas, the perfect warm weather beverages
for when you want something light and refreshing.

Desserts!! Absolutely- how about frozen desserts: strawberry shortcakes
with a tangy sweet balsamic syrup or a zippy Lemon ice box pie, or porch
/poolside/ lounge worthy handmade ice cream pops of blackberry ginger or
chocolate sea salt or banana puddin’ or…it’s your sky- there’s no limit to
you imagination!

And…last stop while we’re out galavanting and cooking on the road - I
committed to a challenge- to take on Kansas City, Joe’s BBQ Baked Beans!!

You get the picture- we’ve got big plans this summer. So come and join us
as we celebrate the warmer months while cooking a few out of the box
treasures. We’ll have Chef Lia stop in the kitchen - virtually - and bake
up something sweet and sassy with me!
