Hi, Dan, the NFB store still doesn’t have their catalog online, but they would be very willing to tell you what they have if you give them a call. I know they do have at least one kitchen scale. I was thinking about calling myself because I think my scale is about to give it up. It’s at least 15 years old so I guess I can’t blame it. (smile!) Anyway, the main number for the NFB is 410-659-9314.

Best,

Charlene

I do hope you find a food scale to fit your needs. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Dan,

Often all we need to step back in the kitchen is a little inspiration, a few basic tools and a doable recipe to build confidence and independence.

I hold cooking classes via zoom on the first and second Wednesday of the month at 4:30pm PST as well as a few other blind cooks who also have cooking classes and discussions groups. These sessions may help to strengthen your confidence and provide some basic skills to move forward.

Should you or anyone else be interested please reply and we will forward the links when classes are in session.

Take care

Happy Cooking

                Hi,

I’m not really a cook, as my wife is sighted and loves to cook. I couldn’t possibly compete with her in the kitchen.

However, I’m a diabetic and want to control my portion sizes, especially when my wife is not at home and I have no one to read a scale for me. I thought this might be a good place to ask for a suggestion for a talking food scale that would be useful to both my wife and I.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Dan
