[NFB-InTheKitchen] getting my own milk

Another idea is to practice pouring cold water into a glass from an empty milk carton. I would do it over a sink. But if you do not want to hold the glass, put the glass on a rimmed baking pan or cookie sheet. That way, if you nspill, first it's only water, and then 2nd it will only spill in the pan and then it's easy to pour it into the sink. Of course, place the rimmed pan right next to the sink. If you haven't done a lot of practice, then start as soon as you have an empty milk carton. And practice as often as you can. We all have to practice doing these tyupes of things and the more we do it the easier it gets.
And next time your mom suggests something, if you do not think it will work out for you, be honest with her. That might take practice also, but soon you will get it.
Good luck
Debbie

milk

Hi all,
For Christmas Mom got me this pump thing that goes on the jugs of milk but I like the taste of the milk in the cartons way better (it's actually does taste different so I'm not crazy; it's something to do with the wax coating on the cartons) so I never wanted the thing in the first place but didn't have the nerve to tell her when she first told me about it a couple of months before Christmas. I find it hard holding the cup up to the pump especially as it gets fuller but pouring from the carton has resulted in several spillages including a couple that have resulted in milk running all down the cupboards and onto the floor. Mom gets really mad when this happens and today she said that we're going back to the jugs but I told her that if I'm doing it then I can use what I want; even sighted people make messes and I'd think that most visually impaired people pour things from cartons and don't need a fancy gadget to help them get a drink. What do you think I should do? I'm in a really bad mood about this so I really need help and to vent. Thanks for reading,
Madison
