Hi, Liz:  You sound ambitious!  Knitting machines are much faster than hand 
knitting.  I know a woman who makes a sweater a day.  Thus, you can make 
more money.  Price scarves and hats in stores, the mass produced kind.  You 
should be able to get twice or three times as much for hand knitted, 
depending on the design and size.  I have seen hand-knitted sweaters for 300 
dollars, but don't know how they sell.  I doubt if you could get that at a 
market or fair.
When you learn more, keep us informed.
Marketing is a skill all by itself.  There may be people on this list who 
know a lot more about it.
