There are antique wood jigs with pegs along them. I don't know where to get
one in permanent form llike that, but you could do the same thing with a
wood jig. I haven't had enough experience using them however, to compitantly
teach a class. We talked about a flat surface with holes and you put wooden
pegs in a pattern in the holes then you wrap wire around the pegs and add
beads as you go. That is what a wood jig is. The snow flake forms are not o
n a wooden surface. They made of wire and you open the forms according to
their diagrams and put beads on them. I think they are quite ugly, but maybe
you guys won't. Nevertheless, I doubt anyone would ever talk me into
teaching a class also because the instructions from what I've heard has
little or no text on them.

Subject: [Nfb-krafters-korner] Beading
During the Snowflake Class there was mentioned beading by using a form?
Years ago I had a pattern to make a beaded Christmas tree using wire, seed
beads in green glass, and this form. The form was a piece of wood with
wooden pegs running along it. The form was maybe the size and shape of a
ruler, with possibly 20 wooden pegs or knobs running along the top side of
it. The pegs were2 by 2 all the way down with only one peg at the very
end. The technique was to wrap the wires of beads around the pegs to make
branches for the tree. The branches were looped around the form only a few
times to make a short branch and the bottom branches were looped around the
full length of the form to make long branches. The branches were sort of a
line of looped wires that had been strung with the green glass seed beads.
The tree then had tiny ornaments hung on it and there were tiny Christmas
lights that were placed on the tree. Packages were made and placed under
the tree as well as doll house sized toys like bicycles or ice skates. Then
the whole thing was displayed under a glass dome. Is this sounding
familiar?
I would love to make one of these trees.
If anyone knows where I could possibly find information about them or has a
pattern...
Thanks!
Dixie
