[Nfb-krafters-korner] Crocheting: chain stitch and hook motion

Hi all:
I hope what I'm about to say makes sense. I'm still giving knitting a try but decide to take a little break and pick up crocheting. I know how to do a chain stitch but can't seem to get the hang of the pulling through motion of the hook after you wrap the yarn. I'm able to pull the yarn over the hook to make the stitch, but it's becoming time consuming and my fingers are getting sore. Are there any ways I can practice the motion with the hook?
