There has been a lot of talk regarding the I Phone and the KNFB Reader
software and this is what comment was made today on the Reader list. I
thought you might be interested.

Subj: Re: [Reader-users] KNFB on Iphone.
Good evening Brian and others,
Mr. Hingson is correct to state that we've been examining the iPhone as a
candidate platform for future development of the the mobile reader. In
fact, the iPhone was being highly considered before it became as popular as it
is now amongst the blind and visually impaired. I know that I echo the
sentiments of the majority in stating that Apple has done an excellent job of
developing accessibility as an aspect of IOS thereby creating a fabulous
device for the masses. Although a number of OCR solutions currently exist for
iPhone users, none of them work all that well. This is something that we
are wanting to change. Knowing that we don't want to release a solution that
would be anything less than stellar, we are continuing the difficult task
of development. I'm confident that the Kurzweil reading machines will
continue to impress, amaze, and bring positive change to the world when it comes
to accessing print by the blind and visually impaired. Rest assured we have
not ceased deve
lopment and know that Mr. Ray Kurzweil is determined to continue
developing innovative methods for accessing and processing visual information by the
blind, with a primary focus on reading.
