[Nfb-krafters-korner] re classes

Just some things I want to say about the classes.

First of all, thanks to all the instructors who take the time to prepare and teach the classes. I'd also like to teach some classes but with my work schedule, can't seem to fit in the time because of the deadlines.

Same goes for attending classes. There are lots of classes that I would like to take that I don't even sign up for because I know I won't be able to be there and even if I am, I probably won't finish the project because of time constraints. I wanted to take every class (ask Joyce) but decided I had to be really particular about what classes to take because of my schedule.

I do think that with a group like this there's no way everyone can be happy about class times but that's why each of us has to decide in his/her heart of hearts what to do. For example, take me: 8:00 is an awful time for me--so probably would be 6, 7, 9, 10 and 11`. So I have to find a way to accommodate everything at the same time. It's not easy and sometimes not fun--like I missed part of Audrey's stories, and I didn't like that one little bit. And I once took part of Eileen's class going down the road with an awful Cell phone connection. So it's never a perfect time.

But the instructors who teach these classes do their best to make the classes available and then I have to just figure out whether I can do it or not. I just think it's the most awesome thing in the world that we can actually take these classes by hphone in the first place. That's just so really neat.

But I do have to say, honestly, that reading the messages I do think folks were a little hard on Lovette. I've known her from other lists and I don't think she meant to be rude or ungrateful for the classes and some of the responses did (to me) seem a little ... harsh??? There's nothing wrong with anyone asking a question. Perhaps it would have been better if the matter had simply been taken off list and discussed by the board and then a decision given. Some particular time just has to be given for the classes and 8 is the time that appears to be the one chosen and I do agree with Eileen and Audrey that only paterns and such should be given to those who attend. The teacher has taken the time to prepare, and the student has taken the time to attend, gather materials, etc. I think, given all the circumstances, that's all that really can be done to make the classes meaningful, well-taught, and fun.

I probably haven't helped any with this but it's just how I feel.

Deb B.
