Deasy, I think you will find the people on this list very friendly.  We are 
looking forward to learning about you.  Beginning knitting by email is a 
challenge I never thought about, but there may be someone here who can take 
it on.  There might be some things that would be easier long distance. 
Sewing is one of them.  For a blind person, a needle threader or 
self-threading needle makes a lot of difference. Ask about them at a fabric 
store and let us know if you find them.   If you have not done any sewing 
before, start with hemming a handkerchief or dish towell. If you have sewed 
before, ask questions to continue.  I think you can get nice cotton fabrics 
in Indonesia.  Am I right?

Others here will have many ideas for you, probably more than you can use.
