hi,

wow, you brought back memories for me with this talk of caning chairs. one summer when I was young I worked in a sheltered work shop and my job was to fix broken cane chairs. I would make totally new seats for the chairs. it was really crafting though I didn't think of it as a craft at the time. . I sure didn't make much money and the conditions were less than desirable, but it was fun to learn to cane. no,I can't remember how I did it, but I do remember it had a number of steps to follow. by the end of that summer I got pretty good at it. my supervisor told me more than once to slow down because there weren't enough chairs coming in to keep up with me and he needed to have work for me to do in order to get paid. aw, if only I could still work and enjoy myself.
who knows, it might just be in my future, life sure has its surprises.

Cathy
