Hi All,

The Fund Raising committee is trying to finalize what types of items we as a
group can make that can be sold at convention this summer. We have
identified a number of potential items and would like to get your feedback
to help us finalize what to make. Now there are pros and cons to having a
variety of items to sell. Deciding to make a variety of items means that
more members may find an opportunity to help the division by making a craft
that is something they like to do. On the other hand, having a variety of
things to sell can be difficult to manage at the table.

Our criteria for considering a type of item to make include:

· Product should be useful

· Appeal to a wide range of people.

· Be able to be sold for under $5.

· Promote Krafter’s Korner and/or our ability to make handmade items

· Be able to make a fair amount of items for $10 in supplies

· One item can be completed in no more than 30 minutes, 15 minutes
would be great.

· Requires skills that some members already have. For example, you
must know how to crochet and you can follow a pattern to make the item, or
you have experience with origami and you can easily learn a new design.

· A member needs to know how to make the item and be willing to
teach the pattern to others.

So with all of that said, here are the ideas that we have. Please write me
off list to provide your feedback. I am not looking for a major debate,
just feedback.

· Beaded heart and beaded star keychain – made with 25-30 pony beads
and 1-2 yards of curling ribbon or other type of cord, and a keychain ring.

· Crocheted bookmarks for braille and for paperback books – Requires
chain stitch and single crochet, 9 yards of 4 ply yarn, a J or K crochet
hook, and a stitch marker. I’ve got the pattern for this and would be
willing to teach how to make it.

· Macramé multi-purpose zipper pull – Made with some type of cording
or cording and 1-5 beads. No more than 4-5 inches long including loop for
attaching. Lends itself to a lot of variety/individuality. Can be attached
to zipper on jacket, attached to a purse or backpack, your cane, keychain,
portable device, etc. My skills in this are limited, so hoping someone else
would be willing to teach this.

· Origami bookmark – made from paper, could have a NFB or Krafter’s
Korner sticker on it. Not sure if it would work for braille books.

Let me know what you think of these ideas. Would you be willing to make any
of them? Would you be willing to teach a pattern? Do you think that people
at the convention will be willing to buy any of these items?

Thanks for your feedback,

Annette
