I ordered the 16-inch size 8 needles! To be honest, however, if one puts the needles in luke-warm water, regardless of what lgthth is used, the cable doesn't get in the way because the warm water straightens the cable. I've been using 29-inch in different sizes since 2009, and haven't had problems. The 16s are good as well, especially for scarves, as I said earlier.
