Melissa, I made one not too long ago that was double crochet then single
crochet back and forth the whole way across. Then if you end in a single
crochet. Chain three, turn,  and double crochet in that single crochet
below. I like it as it is slightly dimensional. I also like one row across
double crochet, chain one, turn, then single crochet the whole way across. A
row of double, then a row of single, then double then single. This is a very
classic looking baby blanket. They don't look the same, yet you are using
the same stitches, smile.

The reason the shell isn't coming out right is, you have to start the row
with a double,  shell stich, and end the row with a single crochet. If your
ends of the shells are curling add an extra chain.

"i am making two blankits for the same family because one toddler is less
than zear who they are adopting, the other girl is expected in December.  My
neece is going to be busy.  Anyway, they are different collors, so I wanted
the patterns to be different.  I tried the shell stitch, but I can't seem to
make it look like some I did last year.  So I am looking for other ideas of
easy patterns.  Does anyone have a favorite pattern?  Thanks.
