Hello Everyone! I have begun receiving questions about the gift exchange and thought I’d send out a general update. Remember that it is suggested that you have your gift ready for mailing by November 20. This gives ample time for it to arrive before Christmas and probably before the 13th of December when we have our party.

You may open your gift when you receive it or keep it until you traditionally open holiday gifts whether that be Christmas, Hanukkah, or some other holiday.

Please advise your gift recipient that they are receiving a package from you, a company, etc. This is the only way they have of knowing where the package came from. I have given much thought to this aspect. For many blind people, they may not have a sighted person readily available to tell them the return address and they probably don’t want to come on list and say I received this beautiful diamond ring and was wondering who sent it since that is probably not one of us (big smile). But, you never know!

When you receive your gift, please send an e-mail back to the person who sent it thanking them and acknowledging receipt so they don’t sit wondering if it is lost. Also, if you choose to hang onto it till gift opening time, let them know that too.

Once you have opened your gift, you may but are not required to tell the group what you received if you want. This is not in any way to show off or see who got the nicest gift. It is only a way to share your joy. And, some may be more private people and just not be comfortable sharing. That’s ok too. Remember, not everyone even participated. What is important is the thought that went into the gift, the intention to bring happiness, and the fact that that person wanted to participate. What is of value to one person may be different from what another might see as valuable. So, let’s have fun!

Continue sending me your other questions directly to ncbootman at gmail.com as well.

Happy Exchanging.

Greg
