I can see your logic Kristina. Keep us posted on how things go. My mothers had a metal thing that was pressed with the knee and hers was electric. Not super super old fashioned. I had a children’s toy sewing machine that looked a lot like what you described. You had to turn a wheel to get the thing to go up and down.
