Greetings Julie and Fellow Lions,

I would first like to say welcome to the list Julie. I have been a Lion for over 15 years. I am currently serving in my third club. As I am sending this message to you this evening, I am being considered to be our next Vice-President for the upcoming two year term. I can say without any hesitation or reservation that being a Lion has been not only an honor for me but has also been a blessing. The most I get out being a Lion is the opportunity I am able to serve others. Yes, I am blind and the Lions are known for their work in the preservation of sight but they also do so much more throughout the community in which they serve. If you have the chance to become a Lion and your heart is in it for the right reason, then I say by all means and well done!!!
 Best Regards,

Kevin D. Ledford

Hello all!

I've just joined this list in hopes of getting more information to help decide  if joining the Lions Club is right for me.

I've been asked repeatedly to join my local Lions.  Last week I did a presentation on guide dogs at one of the regular meetings.  It went very well.  I was also able to meet with some of the members.

I live in a small town where everyone knows everyone, so it is common for people to tell me that they've seen me here or there or doing something or another.  So many of the members knew who I was, but I'm still figuring out who's who.

I have very, very little knowledge or experience with the Lions at the local, state or national level.  Please tell me what I need to know from a blindness and NFB perspective so I can make an informed decision on whether or not to become involved in the Lions.

Julie
