Early Childhood Classroom Teacher

 

The New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired Early Childhood Program is seeking an experienced and qualified teacher of the visually impaired (TVI) for our site-based preschool and kindergarten program in Albuquerque.  Early Childhood experience is required.  Special Education and TVI licensure are preferred or willing to acquire TVI.  Teacher would be responsible for teaching, assessing and monitoring a classroom of VI and/or multiply impaired students.  Will be required to become Braille proficient.  Full‑time, 9-month contract for the 2019-2020 school year.  Applications accepted until filled.

 

Occupational Therapist

 

The New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired Early Childhood Program is currently recruiting for an Occupational Therapist with sensory integration experience to provide services for young children who are blind/visually impaired.  Prefer Occupational Therapist with experience in both early childhood and blindness.  NM Board of Occupational Therapy license and licensure through the NM Public Education Department are required.  This is a full-time, 9-month contract position for the 2019-2020 school year.  Applications accepted until filled.

 

Orientation and Mobility Specialist

The New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired Early Childhood Program is seeking an Orientation and Mobility Specialist.  The O&M Specialist will provide services to enable students aged 3-5 to travel safely and efficiently within their school and community.  The O&M specialist will also help to encourage students with multiple disabilities to move within their environment within their means.  Position requires a BA degree or higher with certification as O&M.  This is a full-time, 9-month contract position for the 2019-2020 school year.  Applications accepted until filled.
