[Nfb-or] [RoseCity] Starting a new chapter

Well, if you really want to pull rank on this matter, this morning I
spoke with Art briefly and Jason Ewell at length from the national
office. Jason called me, so the process was initiated either by the
national office or by Art Stevenson. He feels that Affiliate Action
needs to take an active part along with Art and those of us with the
grievances (which represent a majority of those who actually attend
meetings on any regular basis) to find a solution.

This is something the executive board did not do, so it is now up to
the national office to address the problems you have ignored, despite
it being brought to the board now on three separate occasions. You
did not even act in response to the clear accusation of an attempt to
commit fraud, so now the national office will have to act.

I have been asked to commit to work with Affiliate Action and with
Art to resolve the matter, and I've extended that request to the
others involved, if they are willing to work for the best interest of
the blind here in three counties and the organization at large. We
were not asked to commit to this chapter, because a new chapter might
be called for. It's been done before, and with less cause.

So for now, I am going to focus on the work of the NFB as a whole.
We have three counties full of blind people, and we need to be
serving them better. I've been saying that for months, and now is
the time for less talking about it and more accomplishment. We have
the Casey Eye event coming up, and there are a lot more where the
people there come from, and they have no idea we're here. It's our
job to find them and to show them what's possible. That is where my
energies will be directed for now.

Art, Jason, and Joanne Wilson will be putting their heads together to
figure out what to do next. When they're ready to discuss solutions
with us, I'll be ready. I hope the others will be as well. But in
the meantime, I've got things to do, both for other organizations and
for the NFB as a whole.

Joseph
