Hi All,

See surveys and event below, if you've been to the art museum's Picture
This or if you want to weigh in on their future offerings. For example you
might want more tactile art experiences.

Greetings!

I hope you all had a great summer! As we start into Fall we have several
exciting updates to share about the Picture This program.

1. We have a new email address that is part of The Portland Art Museum
email-system. This will allow us to respond more quickly to your emails.
accesstours at pam.org and use this address email for future emails.

2. The museum is experiencing a time of transition. The goal is to improve
visitor experience. We want to take this opportunity to improve and expand
our programs for visitors who are blind or partially sighted.

In order to do this, we are going to pause our previously set Thursday
Picture This tours through 2019. We will begin the new set of tours in
January. Pausing was a difficult decision, but we are confident it will
lead to improved and expanded programs.

The first step to these changes is to get your input. We would be honored
if you would take the time to complete these surveys to share with us your
experiences, preferences, and ideas. Please feel free to share these links
with others in the community who would be interested in giving input.

3. Increased support for the program. We are excited to announce a
partnership with the Picture This Docent Committee, Portland Art Museum
staff in the Learning and Community Partnerships department, members of The
Portland Art Museum Accessibility Advisory Committee, and community
members. This team will work together to process community feedback and
make requested changes to the programming.

We hope to offer more tours each month with different options for days and
times. We are also using this time to grow the group of docents who lead
these tours and provide additional training and experiences for these
docents.

4. Please Save the Date and join us:

Friday, October 18th 12pm-7pm for Getting a Feel for Art

We are excited to invite you to a fully tactile art event. The event will
held in the Mark Building at Portland Art Museum. Local artists, including
blind and partially sighted artists, will be sharing their work.

There will also be multiple gallery tours offering visual descriptions,
discussions, and when possible tactile experiences. At least one tour will
include work from the next special exhibition: "All Things Being Equal..."
by artist Hank Willis Thomas.

Official invitations and links to RSVP coming soon. We hope you can all
join us!

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, feedback, or
need this information in a different format. We look forward to seeing all
of you. Thank you for your patience during this time of transition and your
partnership as we aim to improve the program.

Warmly,

Becky
