Hmm, I'm not really sure what happened here. I am a JAWS user, I receive the list in digest mode and the message came to me in my email just fine. I had not even included an attachment. Perhaps some computer person can help solve this problem. It all seems fine to me!
Thanks for your input. Perhaps, because I am sending it from the agency where I work, the stuff they tack on is causing a problem.

Hello Everyone,
I am a senior's program coordinator in Anchorage, Alaska and conduct a support group for seniors here at the center where I work. I thought it might be fun for the participants to make a quilt that we would then sell as a part of our non-profit fund raising for the agency. Everyone thought it would be a good idea and I'd like to give everyone as many ideas as possible. I think that having each person make blocks and then put them together in a quilt would be the best way to accomplish this. (Also sending this to the Krafters Korner group). I'd like to present the group with as many ways of making a block as possible. Most of them have some vision and at this point, are pretty determined to use it. However, I'd like to present both tactile ways and visual options to the group. Some things I've thought of are: using puffed paint to create a design, using needle work as a created pattern or copying an already made pattern. I know there are many other options, so, if anyone can think of some, I'd certainly appreciate it. Please feel free to call or write.

Sincerely,
Bonnie

Bonnie, this sounds as though it might be a project others would be interested in. However, there is no message. Apparently, the attachment is a graphic only. If you want most blind people to read it, you will have to send it in a nongraphic file, Word is good. And most of us would appreciate it if you put the message in the body of your email.

Ramona

We missed those of you who were not with us in Orlando at the convention of the National Federation of the Blind. Our Senior Division sponsored a seminar where we explored methods of supporting seniors in our local communities and we encouraged those who were interested in learning alternatives to sight. Participants were offered a lesson in using a long white cane and were given the cane as a gift.

Our business meeting was filled with inspirational speakers and we had fun with our "not-so-silent" auction. Thanks to those who contributed items and who bid on them. WE raised $1,030 for our treasury.

A more detailed report will appear in our next newsletter.

Start making plans for next year and join us in Dallas, Texas!
