Hi,
HavinG done some origami in the past, plus the presenter's very Good directions, these items were not all that difficult for me to follow. However, there's one step in each of those projects I don't quite Get; the rest is fine, in each case. I'll need to check them out aGain, after coming so close! Thanks for presentinG them. (I had a harder time following the audio).
Sorry for the G problem. I have been told that it is related to GaminG, but it is even inconsistent.

Subject: [NFB-Seniors] Greetings to All New Members to Our List! (Others, too!)
Hi You All
Yes, this is a list where you/we can find others with our common characteristic of blindness, and all the good and bad stuff that can come with it; with our Federation positive take on it all.
Sharing information about things we should all know, and/or resources that can assist us to . as we say, "live the life you want," can be one of the many benefits gained by being a member. The recent post on where to get a Braille calendar, was just one of the many examples that can show up here.
Another couple of post-types to watch for will:
The calendar of Senior meetings which shows up here every month. And visitors are welcome to all events; most are sponsored by the NFB, and/or Federation friends.
A second high value source for information and/or things and services, can be found on the NFB Seniors division's website - https://eur06.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fseniors.nfb.org%2F&data=04%7C01%7C%7Cbc0b350f2db64c4f5a5808d88c1021ec%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C637413348194954933%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=V5eYz7qrxSdqhTYGSVOcx6RShxgvNwc2fhfLJYkgo2E%3D&reserved=0
Then. as a repeat from last week; Consider visiting the 2020 Virtual Senior Retreat page on the above website URL, and scroll down through the seven day agenda, and visit all of the recordings of each topic area; Cane Travel, hobbies, Tech Stuff, Independent Living techniques, Philosophical and discussions for living with your blindness! Here is a helpful link that will take you directly to that page: https://eur06.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fseniors.nfb.org%2FRetreat%2520page.html&data=04%7C01%7C%7Cbc0b350f2db64c4f5a5808d88c1021ec%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C637413348194964927%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=m3Gge%2BQHxscub%2BpdnH7aoEpYvMLF73sHbgkz6M9W0JQ%3D&reserved=0
In fact, talking about what you could learn from the Seniors virtual
retreat- Here is the text from a document, provided to us by the instructor who presented the hobby class, during the last day of the retreat. The topic was - Towel Origami - It was a fun class, and this document is a well written step-by-step set of instructions to create three different figures; a sail boat, a bunny, and a swan . Yes, you can use the above link, and go to Friday's hobby class, and listen to Jill instruct the class and get these instructions via her encouraging voice. And I'd recommend doing both, reading this, and listening too; you choose the order in which you do these two things.
**Towel Origami:
Sailboat
Supplies: 1 square wash cloth
Step 1: lay wash cloth on a flat surface in front of you. Turn the washcloth so that it resembles a diamond. You will have a corner at 12:00, 3:00, 6:00, and 9:00.
Step 2: take the corner at the 6:00 position and fold it upwards to 12:00.
You will now have a triangle shape in front of you.
Step3: take the corner which is at the 3:00 position and fold it left and upwards, placing the point of the corner at the 12:00 position.
Step 4: Now take the corner which is at the 9:00 position, fold it to the right and upwards until it rests also at the 12:00 position. You should now have a diamond shape again with a crevice running vertically.
Step 5: Keeping the diamond in its shape, flip it over so that the crevice is now on the underside and facing your work surface.
Step 6: Take the first 2 layers of the cloth at 12:00 and fold the point down so that it now rests at the 6:00 position. You should now have a diamond shape with the top half having a crevice running down the center, and the bottom half of the diamond solid.
Step 7: now take the point at 6:00 fold it underneath the project about 2inches. This creates your bottomed section of your sailboat. You should now have a completed project.
Swan
Supplies: 1 bath towel and 1 hand towel
Step 1: place the bath towel on a flat surface in front of you. The towel needs to be laying so that it resembles a rectangle with the long sides of the towel at 12:00 and 6:00. The short sides of the towel should be at 3:00 and 9:00
Step 2: Starting on the left-hand bottom corner of your towel, begin to roll the side of the towel diagonally, stopping when the roll reaches the center of the long side of the towel nearest to you.
Step 3: Now take the bottom right hand corner and begin rolling it diagonally until it reaches the center of the towel nearest to you. Your towel now should have to diagonal rolls which resemble a print letter V.
the long side of the towel which is farthest from you should be straight.
Step 4: Take the v-shaped towel and turn it to the right 1 turn. Now you should have the point of the shape facing to the right.
Step5: flip the shape over so that the rolls are facing down towards the work surface.
Step 6: take your hand towel and fold it into thirds on its long side. You will have a shape that resembles a cylinder. This is also how you would fold a hand towel to hang from a towel rack.
Step 7: Working with both towels, take the point of the bath towel into your hand about 8 inches from the tip of the point. Using the hand towel as if it were a scarf, take the end of the scarf and wrap it around the portion of
the towel you are holding. Like you would wrap your ankle with an ace
bandage.
Step 8: The portion of the point coming out of the hand towel should curve to shape the head of the swan. Take the points of the towel located to your left and curb them upwards to form the wings of the swan. You should now have a completed swan.
Bunny
Supplies: 1 long dish towel, used for drying 2 square wash cloth, 3 rubber bands
Step 1: lay the dish towel flat on the work surface with the short sides at
12:00 and 6:00. The long sides should be at 3:00 and 9:00. This is considered to be portrait orientation. It should resemble a sheet of writing paper.
Step2: take the left-hand side at 9:00 and fold it 1/3 of the way to the right.
Step 3: Take the right side and fold it to the left so that the towel is folded in thirds longways. This is how it would be folded if it were being hung on a towel rack.
Step4: take a washcloth and lay it on your work surface so that it is shaped like a diamond.
Step 5: beginning at the 6:00 position roll the edge into the center of the diamond.
Step 6: beginning at 12:00 roll the edge down until it meets the roll from the previous step.
Step 7: locate the center of your dish towel which should be lying flat and in a cylinder shape.
Step 8: lay you rolled wash cloth on the dish towels center. This should now resemble a plus sign or a cross.
Step 9: take the dish towel at 12:00 and fold it over the washcloth, having it rest at the 6:00 position. You should have a dish towel folded in half with the washcloth between the layers.
Step 10: take a rubber band and locate the end of the dish towel at 6:00.
Gather the ends and slide the rubber band over the ends as if you were slipping the rubber band over a roll of paper. Slide the rubber band towards the washcloth and secure just below the washcloth. Depending on the size of your rubber band, you may need to twist it and repeat in order to hold the rubber band in place.
Step 11: Locate the ends of the washcloths and raise the points which are at
9:00 and 3:00 so that they are pointing to the 12:00 position take a rubber band and slip it over the ends and secure it just above the top of the dish towel. This creates your Bunny's ears.
Step12: take a washcloth and roll it into a cylinder.
Step 13: locate the center of the roll. Locate the first rubber band that you put onto your project. Trail it to the back of the towel and slide the rolled washcloth underneath a layer of the rubber band. be sure to center it. This creates your bunny's arms.
Step 14: Locate the end of each arm and bring them toward the front of your dish towel. Once they met in the front, secure them with a rubber band.
This resembles the bunny's hands being pressed together as if they were praying. This completes your bunny.
Respectfully yours,
