NATIONAL FEDERATION OF THE BLIND OF UTAH
(NFB) BRAILLE ENRICHMENT FOR
LITERACY AND LEARNING
(BELL) ACADEMY

This program is sponsored by the National Federation of the Blind Jernigan
Institute, in partnership with the National Federation of the Blind of Utah
and the Utah Parents of Blind Children.

Are you the parent, guardian, or teacher of a blind or low vision child who
would benefit from additional Braille instruction during the summer? We
have a wonderful opportunity for them this summer!

The NFB BELL Academy is a two-week program designed to offer
pre-kindergarten and elementary-age children an opportunity to be immersed
in Braille and increase the use of nonvisual skills. In this program
children will receive Braille instruction daily, develop their use of
tactile skills for reading, and learn alternative nonvisual techniques
through arts and crafts, games, field trips, and other fun activities.

A parent seminar will also be held to offer parents practical strategies to
incorporate non-visual learning and Braille into their children’s daily
lives.
