State Convention Announcement
By Marcus Schmidt

This year‘s NFB state convention is being held virtually on the zoom platform from September 10 through the 12th. It will begin Thursday evening with a stimulating philosophy session on authenticity, togetherness, and the intersection Aliti of our blindness and other unique characteristics. Friday will be full of a variety of informative seminars and virtual exhibit, concluding with a fun trivia night for all.
Saturday’s general sessions will include many interesting presentations and important business, and conclude with a virtual banquet with keynote speaker Terri Rupp, nevada’s affiliate president and this year‘s national representative. There will be no sessions on Sunday this year. To be eligible to vote and to be entered into drawings for great door prizes, you must register for this convention by August 31, which is this Monday!
All registrations are being processed online this year via the affiliate website, az.nfb.org; should you need assistance with this process, please contact your chapter president or tarik williams at 570-807-9932. Should you need special accommodations during the convention, please contact Roxanne Torres at rtorres at saavi.us by this Monday as well. Registration is free, but donations are always encouraged and can be made online as well. A fun way to raise funds this year for the organization is to join the 2020 TGR step campaign via the state website, which promotes health and wellness among our members by encouraging each other to take 20,000 steps throughout the convention while raising funds to offset convention expenses.
But, if that’s not your thing, you can always contribute items to the state wide auction, which has always added a great amount of energy and laughter to our banquets. Please send details about items you are planning to donate to Joanne gabias at jgabias at saavi.us.
Should you have any difficulties using the state website, please contact Brian duarte at 480-652-3045. Hope to see you all at state convention. Marcus Schmidt, affiliate secretary

Sincerely,
Megan Homrighausen
