Tina,
Good afternoon.
This is Frida. Now I live in Northern Nevada. Las Vegas is Southern Nevada.
I can tell you that there is no such thing as accessibility in the slot
machines.
All of them have all kinds of useless noise, and though, sometimes the noise
sounds good, none of the noise tells you what you need to know.
When you put your money in, and then decide you don't want to play all of it
in that particular machine, you get back a ticket, but I couldn't read the
amount. So, you don't hear the coins falling like in the old machines. To
tell you the truth, when I took the ticket home, I did not put it
in the scanner to see if it can be read. You can save the ticket if you
like, and when you go back to that casino, you can use it again, but you
have to be careful because there is an expiration date.
When I moved from California to Reno, in 2003, our NFB Northern Nevada
chapter used to meet at the Silver Legacy casino. It was so big, that I
personally had trouble
finding the meeting room, but asked for help, and sometimes, I was able to
follow the NFB members into the meeting room.
the meetings were noisy, the noise came from outside.
>From my house, I am able to walk to the Peppermill Casino. It takes a half
an hour to do that. I used to walk to it with my dear Aunt Frieda, may she
rest in peace.
When I moved to Reno, the Siena Hotel Spa Casino used to still have old
machines, but now, they remodeled, and neither I, nor my cousins David and
Doris have been over there in a long time, and don't know one way or another
what has happened to the old machines.
In November, we had our NFB Nevada state convention in Las Vegas. It was at
hotel casino, The Golden Nugget Las Vegas. Luckily, the convention was in a
quiet area from the casino
area.
Well, there are lots of casinos over here, but the question in my mind would
be, even if casinos made their machines accessible, once that is done, would
the people in charge lose interest, or would they maintain the
accessibility?
Cordially,
Frida
